I have been working on preparing various reports from ESJE.gnucash, and had temporarily set the Account Separator character to “dash” so that I could copy-and-paste report headings and use them as filenames - “colon” is not a legal character in a filename.
When I switched to another .gnucash file I got a warning about the “dash” setting, as this file had an “Imbalance-GBP” account. I started to change the Preferences => Accounts => Separator Character back to “colon”, but as soon as I had cleared the entry field, Gnucash crashed. When I restarted GnuCash (overruling the lock file) I found that the Separator Character was blank, and I was able to change it back to “colon” and proceed. I have appended the first chunk of the extensive crash report, and have saved the complete report in case it is of any value in investigating the crash. Clearly, I have shot myself in the foot here, but I don’t think my misbehaviour should have caused a crash. Any advice?
