Glad it helped. You can copy over at least your prefs (/Library/Application Support/Gnucash/books - I'm on a Mac so it'll be a different path on Windows) and saved reports (saved-reports-2.8) but the backup section in the wiki should cover all this off. I think there's also a File Locations section you might want to check for which covers where the files are installed for each OS.
