The ONLY relevance would be because the original topic involved reformatting data so it could be imported into gnucash.
Since the bash shell + library of standard 'nix utilities constitute a complete language (of fundamental data type "string") it could well be used for the purpose. In other words, instead of python, etc. If I were tackling the problem under a 'nix, I might do it that way.
