When you close a tab and I guess you are referring to an account tab it is closed , i.e it no longer exists as an entity in the program although any data entered into it should have been saved. To reopen a tab you need to go to the Accounts tab and double click on the account you want in the CoA. If the CoA itself is missing use the View->New Accounts Page from the menu
