John,

I have played around with trying to open multiple instances of gnucash from the
Terminal (Mac OS Catalina) without success in getting two instances running at
the same time. I am pretty unix-savvy, after 40 years as a geophysicist, now I
write software for a living. But so far it hasn't helped.

Also, it is not that high a priority to me. The two Gnucash projects I have are
completely independent so I never need to cut and paste between them. It would
be a nice-to-have-but is not a need-to-have. So I haven't spent that much time
trying to get it to work.

macOS does not, and one must use the command line to launch subsequent
instances of gnucash.
