I am at the stage of lots of rude words at the moment! :-)
I am just starting to try and set up GnuCash for the PCC accounts and
I've fallen at the first hurdle. I can't work out how to enter
opening balances for the two accounts we have - a current account and
a savings account (which is basically the building fund).
ONE solution, if you are familiar with bookkeeping the old fashioned
way, pen and ink on paper, but can't figure out how to use the opening
wizard, is to do it the same way you would in the old days. Just create
the CoA with nothing in any of the accounts and then hand create the
opening transaction(s). Of course can be with one transaction, but
that's be a giant split on both sides. So I would do it with two
transactions, one for all the debit balance accounts and one for all the
credit balance accounts. Then just split one side << the other side in
both cases is of course "equity".
