For completeness, the GnuCash Export button exports as HTML, which the
browser then reads. (properly) Saving/Printing as a PDF from the Browser
results in a properly formatted PDF. PDF should be the *last* step only.

on the right in the GnuCash toolbar, as Frank has stated, is 'Export". Use
that button to save the report somewhere on your computer. Then open the
file with any internet browser and print it from the browser. The browser
will have some formatting options like paper selection, landscape vs
profile orientation, border widths, etc. which will still work as expected.
