If so, it might be related to Bug 797984 - Infinite loop while Check & Repair on voided transaction in Accounts/Receivable account - <https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=797984 <https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=797984>>. I encountered that bug in GnuCash 4.2. I worked around it by deleting the voided transaction. Bob apparently fixed it in GnuCash 4.3. But if what you saw in GnuCash 4.4 was this bug, then maybe the fix wasn't effective.
Or maybe what you saw is not related to Bug 797984. Just another lead to follow, if it is helpful.
