Alton, You missed the key element of David's suggestion: Change the type of the account back. You can do that by selecting the account on the Accounts page and clicking the Edit button in the toolbar or using control-E or selecting Edit>Edit Account from the menu. The last will also work from the account register.
Once you have the account edit window open look in the bottom left corner for the Account Type list box. Select Equity from that list and click OK to commit the action.
