This was in fact the issue, the type of data structure in use. Yall have been very helpful, and the data is all back and I am operational on the new version of the tool. Sigh of relief!
I do think that perhaps there should be some better explanation of "backend" in the documentation, being as the word is mentioned only once, leaving me thinking I had stumbled into something serious....not what mounted to operator error.
