Derek, I like your solution best. I've made the mistake of reconciling to the balance in my account without waiting for the statement. It really took some head scratching to figure how to correct it later when I did receive the statement. But can you change either the date or the ending balance? In my case, I had an ending balance that was different on the official statement. Hope that's not too convoluted to be understood.
