I think it would be good to have more users express their views and needs about this feature in that report so the developers have a better sense of the various issues. In expressing your views, it's also good to offer what sort of tweak for alternative behavior you would want to see, so the developers can get a sense of what users want (instead of just complaints about what they don't want) and see how they can reconcile different needs. It has been discussed on the email list before as well but then ideas etc. get lost a bit. With the bug report it's all in one place.
