I think you're referring to https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/commit/31095c1205f769dd6dccaf4bb8f60ab14e56fe7c. The commit message says that it selects the transaction under the pointer if there's no selection, but you're expecting it to override the selected transaction. I think we might get a bit of pushback if we changed that. I looked through your gnucash-user posts for the last year and didn't find the one you're referring to.
