I've dealt with this many times in the past, for example a mutual fund
is renamed.
Updating to the new name and symbol was done using Security Editor. I
just checked for a random stock, and I can change the Full Name,
Symbol/abbreviation, Display symbol, etc. Changing these updates any
accounts that reference the stock, as far as the Security/currency of
the account is concerned.
The only other thing I had to do was rename each account uses the
pertinent security. Not necessary for things to remain functional, but I
like the name of the account to match the security.
