While running in the debugger sandbox trying to induce the error I got a popup window which I did not have during the crashes.

(if images disallowed on list "While importing transactions from OFX file .... found 694 previously imported transactions, no new transactions.)

Then I tried another .OFX file import from another bank/account I didn't get the import matcher window, nor did it crash. ?? was expecting the no new transactions popup ??

exited debuger and ran gnucash normally

Tried the another .OFX file import with no import matcher and no crash.

Then tried the original .OFX import that crashed gnucash. This time I got the popup windows '... no new transactions.'  it didn't crash.

Then imported a.OFX that was not previously imported. I got the import matcher, saved  the import and gnucash continues to run.

FYI before entering the original message on the list I duplicated the crash several times. Now after the debugging it doesn't crash anymore.

I ran flatpak info before and after the debug attempt 'Version: 5.10-unknown-commit (Flathub 5.10)' <- this version info didn't change.

I have not filed a bug report. I guess I'll get to categorizing the unMatched.... I'll report if any new errors.

FWIW I've been using GnuCash many years mainly on MS windows. I generally updated it and import the various.OFX  bank accounts once per year in January.

While using windows I had the files on onedrive. As I've switched from MS Windows to linux desktop I copied the files to my own Nextcloud and pointed gnucash there. I successfully imported several .OFX files with the Generic Transaction Import Matcher Window appearing allowing me to adjust transactions and saving.

Then I imported a previously imported .OFX file as I have in the past because it often picks up additional transactions. This time the Generic Transaction Import Matcher Window did not appear and several moments later gnucash abnormally terminated. I can reopen gnucash and use it for instance to produce reports. I've tried the .OFX import a couple times including with new different account .OFX files but they all fail with the abnormal end.
