What works for me:
- check the boxes 'Placeholder' and 'hidden' in the account properties. By
that, the hidden accounts are excludes from the drop-down list when selecting
accounts for transfers
- create new namespaces for securities (i.e., 'stock expired') and assign no
longer used securities to the new namespace(s). Thus, whenever you create a new
account and a new security you have a very small list to to select the
appropriate namespace for assigning the security to the new account.

Best
Klaus
