Hi Joe, Welcome to Gnucash. What are your PC's Region settings set to - Australia ? If so you should be able to go to Gnucash preferences and select locale as your default currency (Edit menu, select Preferences >> Accounts >> Default Currency and select "Locale ..... AUD (Australian Dollar) which are the settings I use here on Oz.
