Why does he need to know about credit or debit? Other cashbook programs
make it easy for users without this complication.

If a person new to gnucash has no problem learning to use gnucash with the (supposedly) user friendly labels (but where the label for left column or right column change depending on type of account,) doesn't get confused by sign using sense positive and negative, or when adding and when subtracting, no need to learn in terms of debits and credits.

But IF having problems, a switch to the original debits and credits might help. Now those are the only senses, the left column is always debit and the right column always credit (no matter what kind of account) and addition the only operation. No minus signs (just balance appearing on the side unusual for an account of that kind).
