No harm in doing a test scrub on an account without too many tx to see
what it does for you. Worst case is you need to delete the tx it
creates for each sale and tidy up the lots. I use lots even though I
don't need to for tax purposes because I like having a realised gain /
-loss tx in my p+l.
I'm not sure what you need the purchase dates for but the lots might
suit your purpose.
