By chance, was your data file on an external drive, cloud, network drive or USB key?
I see another user has reported window focus problems using that build on Windows with a USB key.

I guess a few buffers didn't clear. And, by the way, I copied my datafile using GC, and also using Windows -File Explorer - Copy - Save As, in order to have two different copies. Both copies (different filenames) worked after the restart. I am back to normal operation.
