John, Neither Transaction Journal nor Double Line will summarize the number of transactions in the current register view nor the range of dates currently being viewed.
Ram, GnuCash doesn't have those capabilities, and from my limited understanding, the register code is notoriously difficult to modify, so your requests might very well go unfulfilled for some time.
