I don't think anyone has suggested removing autofill. It's just that during the long thread a few weeks ago many people said they didn't like it and would like a preference available to disable it -- not a way to reject it while entering each transaction, but a simple preference setting to turn it off. No one wants to take autofill away from the people who like it, as far as I saw.
