Interjecting here ...

While I am on older version (4.14), I recall that whenever I needed to make any 
minor change to an existing entry, I had to type in the same information again 
in the stock split entry (almost like I was creating brand new entry or at 
least make GNC think that I *refreshed* each and every input field) in order 
for it *not* to go back to what the values were in the column where 
modification was wanted. Not sure if same thing is happening in the version you 
are using.

At some point, working on importing transactions becomes more of a burden than 
just entering them all over again...
