Helloeveryone,

...............................................................................

BottomLine Up Front (BLUF):

Thesegmentation fault error I experienced in gnucash seems to be causedby the
system locale being set to “C.UTF-8.”

WhenI changed the locale from “C.UTF-8” to “en_US.UTF-8” the“Mortgage & Loan
Repayment” GUI worked as expected.

Hence,“maybe” no changes to the source code are needed.

Ican set the locale to “en_US.UTF-8” when using gnucash.

...............................................................................

Errorreproduced with the following versions of GnuCash used on Linux Mint22.1
with Cinnamon desktop and locale set to “C.UTF-8”:

 gnucashversion 5.5

 gnucashversion 5.16

 AppImagebuild of gnucash version 5.16

 Flatpak build of gnucash version 5.16

...............................................................................

Iexecuted gnucash from the command line with locale set to“en_US.UTF-8” via:

 LANG=“en_US.UTF-8”gnucash

andthe “Mortgage & Loan Repayment” GUI worked as expected.

Hence,I can change the desktop “Exec” line (as a work around fix forthis issue):

 from“gnucash %f” to “env LANG=“en_US.UTF-8” gnucash %f”

...............................................................................

Toreproduce the error on Linux, execute gnucash with locale set to“C.UTF-8” and
navigate to “Actions -> Scheduled Transactions-> Mortgage & Loan Repayment” and
complete the steps in theGUI windows.

Note:On Linux, gnucash can be started with locale set to “C.UTF-8” viathe
command line with:

 LANG=“C.UTF-8”gnucash

...............................................................................

Ifyou can, please confirm the occurrence of this error when the localeis set to
“C.UTF‑8”

Ihope this information is helpful.

Respectfully,

guardian
