Things may not be as dire as they might appear.
Can you provide some specifics as to what is not working properly or
what does not seem correct?
If necessary, attach screenshots illustrating the problem(s). (do not
paste into the message, *attach* the images to your reply)
The simple answer to re-install though is just that. Run the installer
again. It is supposed to remove your previous installation first.
However, you can manually uninstall if you prefer. (from Settings >
Add/Remove Programs) It might also be a good idea to check in the
Program Files directory and delete the GnuCash directory after
uninstalling if it is still there. Some folks reported a bug where it
doesn't cleanly remove itself and that may cause issues on
upgrade/re-install.

Fortunately, my data files seem to be intact, but the application is
in tatters. I really don't know how that happened I am having
some personal challenges in my life and I think the most sensible idea
would be to reinstall the application, updating to the latest version
in the process.
I don't want to screw this up,
and I couldn't find a detailed roadmap for the reinstall
on my Windows 11 desktop.
Could a generous Gnucash user please point me in the right direction?
