Indeed, this box has a discrete card. The workarounds work for now though.

This has to do with NVIDIA graphics cards and discrete graphics.
On Linux Mint: https://lists.gnucash.org/pipermail/gnucash-user/2026-

My System specs (now also tested with GnuCash 5.17):
Kernel: 6.8
Distro: Linux Mint 22.1 Xia base: Ubuntu 24.04 noble
Kernel: 6.8.0-142-generic
Desktop: Cinnamon v: 6.4.14
Display: x11 server: X.Org v: 21.1.11
Old graphics card, NVIDIA GeForce GT 610, using open-source nouveau driver.
The app crashing example below is in a Wayland session using the
proprietary driver:
https://lists.gnucash.org/pipermail/gnucash-user/2026-September/121825.html
Operating System: Kubuntu 26.04 LTS
Kernel Version: 7.0.0-34-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz
Memory: 16 GiB of RAM (15.5 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745
NVIDIA Driver Version: 580.178.04
On both systems reports were able to run using:
WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1 flatpak run org.gnucash.GnuCash
Issues in both Wayland and x11 sessions with app crashing, blank or
corrupted reports. I haven't seen any reports from other graphics cards
(i.e. AMD cards) yet.
It's not limited to Flatpak installs.

Bruce

Not sure if this matters, but in Linux Mint - GnuCash version 5.17 -
all reports working as expected. I know Ubuntu is different - but
Mint is mostly kind of a branch off it. So wanted to let you know -
no issue with reports in Linux Mint Cinnamon. FYI
