There is a script called minidip.pl in the package. It is described
briefly in the README file. The BIND configuration is exactly the same.
The script itself is installed just like the gdipinet.pl script, under
inetd or xinetd.

No database is used with minidip.pl. The minidip.conf file (see the
sample in /etc - there are comments) contains the password for each
user. The script does a DNS lookup before doing an update to avoid
unnecessary updates.

I think quite a few people use it. It should do what you need.
