I think a colorful ascii display might be nice to have - as long as it is optional, so that it still is easy to pipe output to files etc. If I remember right, there is a (Linux-specific?) syscall to determine if the std input and/or output is connected to a terminal. Perhaps that could be used for setting the default for the coloring, with command-line options to force it either way. This is just my personal opinion, of course.
