I got an answer from dave denholm which helped me to solve the problem (
thanks again) and i'm sharing it here for the others stepping in the
same trap ;-)
to make --enable-socket-support work you have to add --mode gtp
Perhaps it would be good to automatically set mode to gtp when
--enable-socket-support is set. But this part of gnugo seems to be lisp
and i am afraid of this bracket language ...
