I am curious whether anyone is currently maintaining gnugo.el? Whether it is considered a live project? I would like to possibly help with bugfixes features. I think there is some divergence between the gnugo.el i have in my local repo and that shipped w/ GNU Go. The answer to your question depends on which one you want to hack and the direction of hacking.
