I have not used yast for a long time but rather used apt4rpm. I really eases the pain a lot. There are quite capable people who maintain apt repositories. If you install via those all dependencies will be taken care of. I have not had a dependency problem since then. It is just that some packages such as wx2.4 are not available via apt because they supply wx2.5
