> There's just one thing I don't really understand - why are > the notebook-tabs labeled "new episode" instead of something > like "new encounter on 09/May/2005" All tabs only ever belong to the current encounter. They are transient, eg a tool to add progress notes to the episode given in the label for the current encounter. For existing episodes you'll notice the last-seen date in the problem list on the left (now improved to "05/2005 diabetes (health issue)".
"New episode" is just a dummy for lack of better words in those cases where we need a progress note editor but do not yet know the episode it will belong to. > Doesn't each SOAP-note hold informations from one single > encounter ? Yes, and for the current one only as far as that goes. Hence the date is not needed. In fact, all tabs belong to the same encounter, namely the current one, even though they stand for different episodes. > Even if you want to show the episode the encounter belongs > to, wouldn't it make sense to add some information to identify > the encounter ? No. as it is the current encounter. We don't *edit* *previous* progress notes with this. In fact we don't edit progress notes at all (currently) - typos, warts and all. We only *add* *new* progress notes. Always for the current encounter - for the episode named in the label/first line.
