Richard, to perhaps give a more balanced reponse:
GNUmed is not "now meant" to run under 2.6. It is, however, not intended to NOT run under it either. It is certain to fail under 2.6 due to some refactoring needed for running with 2.6. If that can be done and still run on 2.4 any patches are highly welcome. Also notice the TODO items "move to wxPython 2.6" and "move to PostgreSQL 8.0" for post-0.1.
