Hi all,

I just checked in some scripts which let GNU/Linux users create GNUmed packages. Actually what you will get are by no means nice Distro packages like Debian or RPM packages (not yet).

Let's take a look

cd into the dists/Linux subdirectory

You should notice a script named setup_workspace. It will copy files from various locations of your CVS tree into a directory named GNUmed-0.1.

Now it is time to run either make-dists.sh which will create GNUmed-client_0.1.tar.gz as well as GNUmed-server_0.1.tar.gz.

Alternative run install.sh as root if you want to install GNUmed. Actually it will only copy files from dist/Linux to various places in your system.

e.g. '/usr/lib/python/site-packages/Gnumed' and the like

It will ask you for the target directories for each GNUmed component

example:

#########################

gnumobile:/home/basti/sources/gnumed/gnumed/dists/Linux # ./install.sh

##################################################

# #

# Welcome. You are about to install GNUmed. Please observe the output on the screen #

# You will be prompted for target locations for GNUmed. The defaults provided give a #

# working setup on most systems and are considered safe. Your milage may vary. #

# #

# - GNUmed release team - #

# #

###################################################

client bitmap target directory [/usr/share/gnumed]:

python directory [/usr/lib/python/site-packages/Gnumed]:

client documentation target directory [/usr/share/doc/gnumed]:

client config files target directory [/etc/gnumed]:

client language files target directory [/usr/share/locale]:

###################################################

All of this is still pretty rough. I need your feedback. Installation should be safe. No files will be deleted or overwritten. If you don't test, packages will stay that rough.

Now here is your chance to help GNUmed reach 0.1
