The problem with OpenSDE is the following: As it stands the UI is clumsy in practice, as Richard pointed out. The content behind it, however, is very useful for (at least) less-experienced (in that particular field) providers.
The real challenge lies in marrying the knowledge embedded in the SDE structure to a less constraining entry widget as Richard also asked for. The same problem as with any Expert System to date.
