There is no "the" Debian package because there is one in
Debian stable (Etch) that really has gnumed_v2 as default because
it is the Client version that requires V2 and there is another
package in Debian testing that has a higher client version
number (0.2.5.0) which requires Database version V4. If you
want to use the latest GNUmed client my advise would be to use
the package from testing. If you have no idea how to do
this feel free to ask here.
