It depends on the size of every spreadsheet. If they are individually too big, you should have one file per machine because otherwise the system will take a big amount of time to save little changes that you might only make to a single spreadsheet. But if not, it would be faster, easier and more practical to just have one file with the 50 spreadsheets.
