I'm afraid you'd have a very hard time building a fully static gnumeric. GTK doesn't like to be used that way. The standard way of doing this sort of thing is to package up the executable(s) with all the dynamic libraries that might be needed, in some suitable directory structure, then rely on scripting magic with LD_LIBRARY_PATH and all that to get the thing to run.
