I've seen other threads about the interference made by Gnome's keyring with
gpg-agent. I don't knowingly use any gnome application which requires its
keyring management but I do note from the system monitor that the
gnome-keyring-daemon is running sometimes (not every time). I have supposed
that it gets started at bootup (but if that's so, why isn't it always running
?). And the UbuntuStudio flavour doesn't use the Unity desktop but xfce.
