To find the details about a key generated some time ago, export the
key in .asc form and do:
gpg --list-packets keyname.asc

To see all the information about the key as it is being generated, use
the options of --expert --verbose --verbose

The full command would then be:
gpg --expert --verbose --verbose --gen-key
