Thanks for your help.
After some strugling I managed to install all perl modules ( and its
dependencies ) in order to be able to run slimserver.pl.
Unfortunatelly, I got stuck with an error:
081121 13:54:43 [ERROR] Error message file '/vault/share/Software/
squeezecenter/MySQL/errmsg.sys' had only 463 error messages,
but it should contain at least 475 error messages.
Check that the above file is the right version for this program!
081121 13:54:43 [ERROR] Aborting
[08-11-21 13:55:16.1014] Slim::Utils::MySQLHelper::createSystemTables
(433) FATAL: Couldn't connect to database: [Can't connect to local
MySQL server through socket '/vault/share/Software/squeezecenter/Cache/
squeezecenter-mysql.sock' (2)]
I have read in the slimdevices forums that the problem may be related
to apparmor, at least in Ubuntu Hardy. I have no Idea if this applies
to Nexenta 2.x or if its just another problem. In any case, the
solution proposed in the forums is to add some lines to the file /etc/
apparmor/usr.sbin.mysqld
And to restart the service apparmour using:
sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor reload
Unfortunatelly, there is no apparmour in my init.d directory...
Do you have any hints about this issue?
BTW. I did not do any configuration of the mySQL server, just
installed it via apt-get, maybe there is some configuration missing?
regards,
Manuel.

Hello,
I would like to install Squeezecenter ( http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html
) on nexenta core 2.0 alpha 2.
Since the server is implemented in Perl, it should teoretically be
easy to install. But unfortunatelly my knowledge of Nexenta and
Perl is not very good.
Could someone please give me a hint on how to make this instalation ?
I previously had the slimserver software running under Nexenta NCP
1.0.x. It's generally best to download the tar.gz and run the
installer. It should already include the perl modules you need, and
will tell you if it's missing something.
