If you change the contour, and then "Generate Contour", you effectively tell it to replace your changed contour by the one it generates by rule, which is what you started with. You should change the contour and then "Synthesize". If this doesn't work, then there's some kind of problem I am unaware of.

Oddly, the version I am playing with seems to have stopped allowing me to even change the contour -- something I shall have to investigate. It is an older version (0.9.1 (4)) and I have upgraded the OS twice since installing it.
