Hi!
I'm trying to use tar to backup my files on a tape device.
The command
tar -c \\.\tape0 x:\dir_to_backup
results in the following error message:

tar: cannot open -: bad file descriptor
tar: error is not recoverable: exiting now.

Everything works if I back up on a normal file:
the command
tar -c mybackupfile.tar x:\dir_to_backup
is succesfull.

Tape0 is the right symbolic name of the tape device...

How can I use tar to backup on tape?

Thank you
