regex.h defines regoff_t as type off_t, which my sys/types.h defines as a
type long.

However, it appears to me that when the library as been compiles off_t has
been defined as a type long long (32 bits). Is this the case and is there
anywhere that defines the pre-requisites used in the compilation of the
binaries and libraries?

I would recompile the library myself but I am having some difficulty setting
up the MinGW/MSys system to do so - but that is another story.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
