I had to give up trying to compress 100 thousand empty files with the latest binary. It was taking too long and using 100% cpu so I had to give up. The command I used was something like bsdtar -c -f .. -j *. Rar didnt do it either but 7za was fine. Can bsdtar be helped because I think that bzip2 is best for compressing text.
