Hi - It's not particularly well-documented, but you might consider looking at GoCD's whitelist configuration option rather than using this plugin.
https://docs.gocd.io/17.4.0/configuration/configuration_reference.html You would set a filter element on the material that matches the subdirectory you want to watch and then set invertFilter to true.
