Ah ok that makes sense. It's a python script that just calls 'print' in a loop with a sleep between making checks. I didn't realise 'print' had to be explicitly flushed (this helped me out - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/230751/how-to-flush-output-of-python-print) Thanks.
