Hi Sajeeve, A material is a cause for a pipeline to "trigger" or to start doing what it is configured to do. Once you add a material to pipeline, it gets clone and with combination of stages and jobs you should be able to execute task on the material files such as perform build or execute checked in deployment script. I would suggest to go through this post - https://www.gocd.org/getting-started/part-1/ to know more about basic concepts in GoCD.
