*Goa, 1961: reviews & all*

Paresh Prabhu, Editor, *Navprabha* (Panjim, Goa), has penned an interesting
op-ed in today’s edition of the daily. It focuses on the role of Goan
Catholics in the freedom movement, as elucidated in the forthcoming book *Goa,
1961* published by Penguin Random House India. The article is in the
Marathi language. Those interested may see it at:

The national media has also mentioned the book. You may like to see:

Over the next few weeks, I propose to reproduce excerpts from the
forthcoming book. The purpose is not just to inform the potential reader
what to expect from the book (though the posts will mainly be humorous
snippets) but to demonstrate that the book does not belong to me alone: it
is the outcome of a collaborative effort of many, both military veterans
and civilian authors, without whose spontaneous help and support the book
would not be a reality – at least in its present shape.

All such persons have been named and thanked in the book’s Acknowledgements.

Of course, the book goes under my name and I would be solely responsible
for any inaccuracies.

Following my 30 June 2023 announcement of the book, many asked me about the
authors of the comments that I reproduced. The five distinguished military
veterans will need a separate piece each, even if I keep their profile to
the barest minimum. Such is their versatility.

The posts will be for information only. There is no need to acknowledge or
write, save if you have a question, doubt or comment.

Of course, there may be some who are not interested in the posts. Email and
WhatApp recipients only need to drop me a line and they will forthwith stop
receiving the pieces. Those on Facebook (members of groups, in particular)
would best ignore the posts.
