Dear Eugene,
First of all congratulations on the Phd programme. If you can't get hold of the 
book, you may want to read Rochelle Pinto's work on the colonial press in 
Between Empires, her work is stellar, and I have found it immensely useful. 
Sandra Lobo of course has added profoundly to this canon of work but her 
writings are in Portuguese. Perhaps an initiative from us Goans to translate 
them into English is needed.
